Ejaculation is primarily regulated by the sympathetic nervous system and is triggered by a spinal reflex involving the brainstem, influenced by key brain nuclei such as the medial preoptic and paraventricular nuclei. Dapoxetine, the active ingredient in Priligy, likely works by inhibiting serotonin reuptake in neurons, thereby enhancing the action of neurotransmitters on both pre- and postsynaptic receptors. Indications and contraindications

Like all drugs, PDE-5 inhibitors Priligy has a fairly extensive list of contraindications:

• individual intolerance to dapoxetine or auxiliary components;
• serious heart pathologies;
• severe liver and kidney diseases;
• diseases of the endocrine system;
• vascular pathologies;
• tendency to bleeding;
• deformation of the genital organ (congenital, acquired);
• infarction, stroke (in anamnesis).

Priligy is not compatible with selective inhibitors, organic nitrates, nitric oxide donors, adreno-alpha- and beta-blockers. It is not recommended to use it simultaneously with antidepressants, analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and drugs for the treatment of HIV infection.

Application, dosage

Priligy is intended for oral administration. For better absorption, it is recommended to drink the drug with plenty of water (at least a glass). Eating fatty foods, as well as large doses of strong alcoholic beverages, slow down the absorption of the active substance, worsening the effect of the drug (taking small doses of alcohol is acceptable).

The therapeutic course should be determined by a doctor - for some patients, it is enough to take the drug 3-4 times a week, while others need to take the drug daily. In any case, the maximum permissible dosage of the drug is 60 mg per day, no more.

Treatment adjustments can be made by a doctor after taking 6 doses of Priligy or 1 month after the start of therapy.

Side effects

Adverse effects of the drug include:

• Deterioration in concentration, fainting;

The intensity of the side effects depends on the individual characteristics of the patient's body and his or her tolerance of the drug.

A severe overdose of Priligy may cause intense migraine-like headaches, increased body temperature, tremors, drowsiness, pain in the muscles and joints.

If the unpleasant symptoms are regular and pronounced, be sure to consult a doctor, you may need replacement therapy, for example, replacing the original drug with its analogue.

Interaction with other drugs

Priligy should not be taken with antidepressants, neuroleptics, or tranquilizers. It is contraindicated to combine the drug with sedatives, sleeping pills, and narcotics. Dapoxetine negatively affects the therapeutic effect of the following drugs:

• Ketoconazole;
• Itraconazole;
• Ritonavir;
• Telithromycin;
• Atazanavir.
